Lahiru Kumara vs Liton Das fight video, Mohammad Naim push

Several players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to be scrutinised by the match referee after a heated verbal and, at times, physical confrontation during the teams’ T20 World Cup clash.

Sri Lankan bowler Lahiru Kumara, as well as Bangladesh batters Mohammad Naim and Liton Das, were caught up in a tense exchange on Sunday in the middle of Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

After a methodical start to Bangladesh’s innings, Das attempted to lift Kumara over the infield, but only succeeded in picking out Dasun Shanaka at wide mid-off to be dismissed for 16.

But as Das began his walk back to the pavilion, Kumara appeared to engage in some heated words with Das, who didn’t hold back himself. The bowler and batter then came face-to-face, with Sri Lankan players being forced to pull Kumara away from Das.

Fellow Bangladesh batsman Naim then joined Das and clearly pushed Kumara away, prompting the umpires to break the confrontation up as it threatened to boil over.

“Well, well, well – I don’t think I’ve seen that. That’s not a good look for the game of cricket,” broadcaster Mark Nicholas said in commentary.

“I’d like to say that it was handbags, but I don’t know that it was.

“It was quite unpleasant.”
